Other Fancy Handiwork...

Painting, carving, woodwork, sewing and baking are just a few of my favorite pastimes. My kids to this day still talk about the creative Halloween costumes I made them, the intricate parade floats, upholstered furniture and even a giant fork exterior restaurant sign I made for my daughters boyfriends Italian restaurant.

I have carved jewelry molds, jewelry boxes, praying hands, wooden plaques as well as many other random things. Years ago my daughter even entered one of my carvings (little black duck below) in the Florida State Fair exhibitors competition and I'm proud to say it took a blue ribbon. Much of my inspiration is taken from my son (a very talented artist in his own right). Over the years he would draw and doodle and of course being the proud mother I am, I saved his work. He once drew a series of little boys with the most irresistible eyes. Each somewhat the same but all different according to their profession or hobby. His details were impeccable and I just loved the cuteness and whimsy of them and couldn't resist the urge to carve each one of them. To this day his original drawings as well as my little carvings are among my prized possessions.

During another creative stage of my life I took up quilting and made several but the ones I made from my grand-daughter Dani's baby clothes remain the crowd fav and will forever be a family treasure.

A few things you may not know about me...

I am incredibly inspired by the colors and imagination of Mary Engelbreit. You can find much of her inspiration throughout my home.

I write poetry and a personal favorite of my daughters is:

Lord keep me humble
Keep me meek
Keep me Lord from being weak.

I use to drive a motorcycle.

I can't get enough of crime solving mystery television shows.

When I start something I can't stop until its finished!

I love putting puzzles together but hate to start them because again, I can't stop until their finished.

I love Blizzards from Dairy Queen.

I love to read missionary books.

When my kids were teenagers I used to take them to Wrestling matches at the Tampa Armory. It was a treat when we got to go and we all loved it!

I like to drive fast!

I love black liquorish.

I've traveled to over 30 countries during my lifetime and have been to every state in the US.

My brother Tookie is one of my favorite people in the entire world.

I have a great sense of humor now that my children are grown.

I am tone death and cannot sing a lick but I love music and I love when Bob plays his guitar for me.

I am enormously proud of the man my son has become!

To this day I can accomplish anything I set my mind too and I have my mother to thank for that.

To my kids utter shock and total dismay I recently designed and had made my tombstone. (This bothers my kids a lot and they'll probably need therapy as a result.)

RIP Louise

My daughter gave me the greatest Christmas gift 23 years ago and to this day it is still my very favorite!
